Assess weather and review with racers.
Confirm all racers have signed registration and liability forms.
Review start sequence.
Remind skippers of responsibility for safety equipment and crew.
Tell them to start RaceQs to record the races.SET THE COURSE
Place W and X buoys approximately windward and leeward of start line.
Alpha Start
Anchor the Committee boat where the start flag will make a perpendicular line to mark 19 in reference to the wind direction. 1.5 times the total length of all boats racing.
Bravo Start
From HYC Deck, HYC Flagpole to Mark 19
Take a breath and consider the first course to send the racers on.
Hang the course signal for Racers to observe.PREPATORY SIGNAL
3 Horn Blasts approximately 3 min before race sequence begins.RACE SEQUENCE
Prep two timing sources to start.
5 min Yellow Flag up and 1 Horn blast if possible.
4 min Blue Flag up and 1 horn blast if possible.
1 min Blue Flag down and 1 horn blast if possible.
Start Yellow Flag Down and a Long horn blast if possible.FINISH
Score times can be either clock times or duration but pick one and be consistent.
Record the moment the first part of the boat crosses the finish line (same as start line, from orange flag to Mark 19)AFTER LAST FINISHER
Review how the race went and what could be done better.
Pick the next course.
Prep for next Race Sequence.
Make sure the last finisher has a moment to rest and recover.LAST RACE
Collect X and W buoys.
Return all RC gear to club room.
